M.L. Krisada Kasemsan, President of the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand, together with Pongsaya Hongsawat, Vice President of the Association, and Wanchana Kasemsan Na Ayudhya, IIHF Asia Regional Development Manager, attended the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Congress in Tenerife, Spain. The meeting featured several key agenda items, including a review of the federation\u2019s recent activities and the election of a new IIHF President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the congress, delegates reviewed the overall operations of the IIHF over the past year, as well as the achievements made during the five-year tenure of Luc Tardif as IIHF President. These included progress in several areas, such as the development of ICE26, the IIHF\u2019s first strategic plan, strengthening the federation\u2019s financial stability and establishing reserve funds to prepare for unforeseen circumstances, as well as the formal establishment of the Development Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other notable achievements included the successful staging of the Olympic ice hockey competition featuring NHL players for the first time since 2014, as well as efforts to protect the federation\u2019s competitions and commercial rights. These initiatives were aimed at strengthening the IIHF\u2019s stability and supporting the continued growth of ice hockey at the international level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The congress then moved to one of its key agenda items: the election of the new President of the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Ice Hockey Association of Thailand was entitled to two votes. M.L. Krisada Kasemsan, President of the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand, and Pongsaya Hongsawat, Vice President of the Association, who both attended the congress, cast Thailand\u2019s votes in the presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The election results saw Franz Reindl, former President of the German Ice Hockey Federation, elected as the new IIHF President after defeating Petr B\u0159\u00edza, the candidate from the Czech Republic, by 60 votes to 57.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Wanchana Kasemsan Na Ayudhya, in his capacity as IIHF Asia Regional Development Manager, also shared his vision and presented an overview of ice hockey development across Asia. The sport continues to show steady growth and development throughout the region, reflecting ongoing efforts to raise competition standards and expand opportunities for ice hockey to gain greater popularity across Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation in the congress marked another important role for the leadership of the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand in contributing to the direction and development of ice hockey at the global level.
